Puducherry, one of my favorite destination for kites, especially at the beach " Paradise Beach " at the Chunnambar area overlooked by the lake and on the foreground of Bay of Bengal. Tourism Puducherry is all set to proclaim that they have now more exotic location recreated by the dynamic team of tourism dept headed by Shri Mansoor Muhamed, Director of Tourism, Govt of Puducherry. In a bid to promote the latest developments, they have conducted some of the events include to get attract and lure tourist by organizing Sand Art Festival, Beach Fest having series of sport and recreation activities beginning Beach Volleyball for both girls and boys, Kabbadi, Kite flying, Food fest, etc. All these were organised in the various locations which the dept has developed namely Pondy Marina, which was formerly known for its belt on the cost...(i am not getting the name....OMG), Chinnaveerapattinam followed by one in the back water area, neatly constructed with a high rise pillar supporting an Amphy theater model aimed at event organizers to conduct programs. There was already some event hosted in the new year...says Director Tourism in an interaction. There is a special focus to unite the community by launching a society that is formed under the auspices of tourism dept looked after by the local fishermen community and the revenue is shared.
No need to say, that Kite flying was hosted by KiteLife Foundation and Rajesh Nair from Kerala where they flown some of the latest creations include master-peace 3oft Theyyam on inflatable model flown for from afternoon along with its counterpart Kiter Soumya Behera flying its 3mtre Rokkaku. Kites were given away to few enthusiasts as well to generate interest and that too flown in the scenic location.
