THE KITE HOME OF KERALA INDIA



Kerala (കേരളം),popularly known as the Gods Own Country, is a state in the south-west region of India on the Malabar Coast. Malayalam speaking region is spread over 38,863 km2(15,005 sq mi) is bordered by Karnataka to the north and north east, Tamil Nadu to the east and south, and the Arabian Sea to the west. With 33,387,677 inhabitants as per the 2011 census, Kerala is the 12th largest state by population and divided into 14 districts. The state capital is Thiruvananthapuram and other major cities include Kochi, Kozhikode, Kollam and Thrissur. The population of Kerala exceeds 3.80 crore.

KiteLife Foundation, the Kite Home of Kerala begun its activities officially in the year 2010 introducing the Kerala Kite Festival. The first of its kind in the state has seen huge crowd pulling in to see the gigantic features made in Kites flown by invited kiters from different parts of the country and abroad. KiteLife Foundation is a society promotes kite as healthy sport in India, founded by Ace kiter and Designer Mr. Rajesh Nair with the support of his longtime friend Mr. Suresh Babu and host of other friends. KLF is now an synonymous in the field of Kite related activities and participated in the International Kite Festivals like Borneo(Malaysia), IKF-Dubai, Singapore Kite Festival. KLF was also invited to Usieong-Korea & Weifang-China.

KLF is active supporter for the community initiatives. KLF initiated a project that support A Safe and Clean Drinking Water for the patients in the Govt Hospitals, actively promoted Coastal Cleanup in various districts on every frequent intervals and few other initiatives that would benefit thru humanitarian cause from time to time.

TeamKerala India, is kite club promoted by KLF and has now hold a group of members who are either kite connoisseurs and makers and Rajesh leads the team with his passion of kite making. He has made kites inculcated from the folk arts of Kerala displayed in many international festivals and received appreciation. Rajesh regularly conducts kite making workshops in many states and done it internationally. 2013 he has designed a 'Puzzle Kite', a very unique kite making technique attended by many participants from world over at the Singapore Kite Festival. KLF has introduced KiteKraft, a pioneering effort to promote the dynamics of kite making with unique designs in the workshops they conduct. KLF has conducted KiteKraft in schools, colleges and in other corporates.

KLF has been invited to many international festivals and inclined to go froward with new ideas in kite making and developing the scope of promoting Folk Arts of Kerala thru the kites.
